David Remnick
Editor, The New Yorker
David has modernized one of the most iconic publications in media and guided this acclaimed brand through a critical period in journalism. After 92 years and counting, The New Yorker is as nimble—and necessary—as ever, embracing new technologies to deliver its essential reporting and commentary.
Pay It Forward:
In recognition of his sustained and substantial contribution through The New Yorker since 1998, and in alignment with the spirit of wanting to pay forward a respect to those looking to maintain and build ideas of enduring value, David Remnick was also granted a bursary by The Legacy Lab Honors to pass forward to an organization protecting and growing an idea of personal significance. With his grant, David chose to honor The Committee to Protect Journalists.
“The Committee to Protect Journalists promotes press freedom worldwide. Not so long ago, they were primarily consumed by abuses and infractions overseas. Today, they’re fighting just as hard on behalf of journalists in the U.S. It’s these individuals—most certainly not nameless purveyors of fake news—who are doing critical work at a consequential moment in our country’s history.”
The Committee to Protect Journalists is an organization that helps to defend the defenseless and, like David via The New Yorker, has made it their life’s work to defend the spoken truth.
