Herve Humler is President & Chief Operations Officer of The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, L.L.C. He is responsible for strategic vision, global growth strategy, and championing its distinctive service culture.
The Ritz-Carlton is a $6-billion global business with nearly 40,000 employees and a growing number of brand extensions: The Ritz-Carlton Hotels, The Ritz-Carlton Leadership Center, Ritz-Carlton Reserve, Ritz-Carlton Residences, Ritz-Carlton Destination Clubs and Bulgari Hotels & Resorts.
Humler’s portfolio of responsibilities includes presiding over 150 properties located across the globe. He is also President of Bulgari Hotels and Resorts. Prior to his current appointment, he served as Global Chief Operations Officer for The Ritz-Carlton and head of the brand’s international region, where he presided over the operations of hotels and resorts in South America, Asia, Africa, the Middle East and Europe.
In his role at the helm of the iconic luxury hotel company, Humler is guiding The Ritz-Carlton through a period of unprecedented growth and evolution. The Ritz-Carlton is branching out on all fronts with significant expansion across Asia, changing aesthetics of hotel design and dynamic initiatives in the realms of service delivery and quality assurance, to name a few. Entrusted with continuing to grow the elevated status of one of the most recognizable names in luxury today, Humler is based at the company’s headquarters in Chevy Chase, Maryland.
Significant achievements during his presidency at The Ritz-Carlton include maintaining the top-ranked position in the luxury hotel segment of the J. D. Power and Associates North America Hotel Guest Satisfaction Index StudySM for eight out of the last 10 years, the last two years of which the brand has achieved the highest score in the history of the study. Humler was also personally recognized as the No. 40 Thought Leader in Trustworthy Business by Trust Across America-Trust Around the World.
Mr. Humler is a proud supporter of the company’s commitment to corporate social responsibility, which was a key part of The Ritz-Carlton original 1983 mission statement that he helped craft. Under his leadership, The Ritz-Carlton Community Footprints® program was recognized by the Points of Light Institute with the Corporate Engagement Award of Excellence, which honors companies that have created a culture that inspires and equips employees to volunteer and make an impact in their communities. The Ritz-Carlton also became the first founding partner of IMPACT 2030: The Global Initiative for the Advancement of Corporate Volunteering to contribute to achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
One of the original founders of The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, Humler held senior management positions at hotels in San Francisco; Buckhead (Atlanta); Mauna Lani, Hawaii; and Laguna Niguel, California. Before joining The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, he was with Hyatt Hotels, Intercontinental Hotels and The Princess Hotel in Bermuda.
A resident of Washington, D.C., Herve lives with his wife and two children, is a native of France and holds a baccalaureate degree from the University of Abidjan.
